Having begun his film career as a cameraman/editor in Dniepropetrovsk in 2004, Alexander soon moved to Malta to work at a local video production house Blaze Productions as a cameraman, editor and later, director. In the next two years he went on to direct and produce numerous TV commercials, industrials and TV programs. He has a background in camerawork, editing and special effects. Having moved back to the Ukraine in 2007, he directed his first short film “id” with production taking place in Dniepropetrovsk. During the same period he also worked as an editor in a Kiev post-production house Cinnamon, working on high-budget TV commercials for Danone, TetraPak, Chernigivske, Raiffeisen Bank, Beeline and others with directors from all over the world. After 9 months of work he went freelance and now works in Ukraine and Russia as a freelance editor, director and DoP.
At the moment Alexander Chorny works as a freelance editor (TV commercial, music video, film) and also as a director and cinematographer (TV commercial, film).
